Te Mato Vai Water Infrastructure
Rarotonga's largest modern water upgrade — ring mains and intakes rebuilt to deliver a safer, more reliable island water supply.
Te Mato Vai rebuilt Rarotonga’s ring mains and upgraded ten water intakes — described as the island’s biggest infrastructure project since the airport opened. Begun in 2014 and completed as a capital project in 2021, it was followed by a defects and remedial programme; public records also note water- quality and tariff issues during the transition to a permanent water utility. Water service is now managed by the To Tatou Vai Authority. Any before/after imagery must be real, licensed photography.
