Palmerston Cyclone Shelter and Emergency Centre

A purpose-built cyclone shelter and emergency centre for Palmerston, opened in January 2021 — the third cyclone shelter completed in the Pa Enua, reported as fully funded by the Cook Islands Government.

The Palmerston cyclone shelter is a purpose-built emergency and community facility opened in January 2021. It gives one of the country’s most isolated communities a secure centre during severe weather and a valuable public facility the rest of the time, strengthening disaster preparedness.
