Mitiaro Solar Mini-grid

A solar mini-grid designed to supply around 95% of Mitiaro's electricity from solar, with battery storage and modernised distribution — commissioned in 2018 as part of the Southern Group renewable programme completed in 2019.

Mitiaro’s renewable-energy system supplies most of the island’s electricity from solar power, with battery storage and modernised distribution, reducing dependence on imported fuel and improving the resilience of the island’s power supply. The budget figure is an indicative planning estimate, not a confirmed final cost.
