Solid and Hazardous Waste Act 2025

A statutory framework for hazardous waste, product bans, and waste financing — in force from 1 July 2025.

Passed in 2024 and commenced on 1 July 2025, the Act created a statutory framework for solid and hazardous waste, enabled a waste financing mechanism, and set up a banned-product schedule tied to single-use plastics and end-of-life waste controls.
