Rebuilding the Economy and Tourism

National · National · economy · 2022 onward

The economy returned to approximately its pre-COVID level, supported by tourism recovery and broader airline routes.

The 2025 Budget reported that economic activity had returned to approximately the target level set in the Economic Recovery Roadmap. Visitor arrivals reached 170,391 in the 2024 calendar year, and in the year to March 2025 exceeded 174,000, including more than 39,000 visitors from Australia. This is a national recovery achieved by workers, businesses, communities, the tourism sector, and Government policy together — not by Government alone.
