Rarotonga Airport Safety and Runway Programme

Separate works are advancing runway-end safety, runway slab replacement, and a terminal extension to strengthen safety and international connectivity.

The programme has distinct components: a Runway End Safety Area extension, runway slab replacement, a terminal extension, and project-management and environmental-consent activity. The RESA work is intended to meet the 90-metre minimum safety length referenced by the National Environment Service. Each component is at a different stage — do not imply the entire airport programme is complete.
