A new dialysis unit is planned for Rarotonga Hospital, reducing the need for kidney patients to travel overseas for essential treatment.

The 2025 Budget speech said a new dialysis unit at Rarotonga Hospital was expected to begin in 2026/27 and run across two fiscal years, in collaboration with Te Marae Ora, CIIC, and New Zealand’s Ministry of Health.
