Aitutaki Airport Improvement

Planning and procurement are progressing for runway-strip land reclamation and related upgrades to strengthen safety and future capacity.

The Airport Authority issued a tender in June 2026 for the Aitutaki Runway Strip Land Reclamation Project, and the 2025 Budget speech listed the Aitutaki runway extension among projects supported through the Infrastructure Trust Fund. Confirm final scope, programme dates, funding, and expected aircraft or route benefits before presenting this as more than procurement and planned works.
