
Knighthood for a life of Service to the Cook Islands
His Excellency Tom Marsters Queen’s Representative of the Cook Islands and Mrs Tuaine Marsters, are on their way to Buckingham Palace where he will be knighted Sir Tom Marsters KBE and she will be Lady Tuaine Masters.
Joining them is his Official Secretary Mr. Anthony Brown and family. They will also be attending a War Memorial Service in Belgium for Cook Islands and Commonwealth soldiers.
Marsters was born on Palmerston Island and educated at Nikao and Avarua Primary Schools before attending Avele Agriculture College in Samoa and Grimsby Institute of Technology in the United Kingdom.
Before entering politics he worked as a public servant and Secretary of the Cook Islands Party from 1968 to 1999.
He was first elected to Parliament for the seat of Murienua in a by-election in 1991 a seat he held until 2013 when he resigned also as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs to take on his role as Queens Representative.
He was reappointed for a second three-year term in July 2016 and then in the 2018 Birthday Honors was appointed a Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire. We look forward to welcoming Sir Tom Masters KBE and Lady Tuaine Marsters on their return.
